The School Based Pandemic Response Interdisciplinary Navigation Teams (SPRINT) project will assist California School Districts who have the most difficulty designing, accessing and operationalizing COVID-19 testing programs. Formed through a unique partnership between The California Department of Education (CDE), the University of Southern California (USC) and the California Department of Public Health (CADPH) the SPRINT project will form multidisciplinary teams of graduate students who will be deployed throughout the state to work in districts to ensure students have access to robust testing programs by spring semester, 2022.

What do we do?

USC graduate students will work with a team of experts to support identified school districts. Students will work with a team of experts to help school districts and school site staff develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive testing and COVID-19 response program. Student teams will continue to serve their districts through spring semester, 2022. Students will meet with district leadership and may be deployed to assist with COVID-19 testing and implementation plans.

What are rapid antigen tests?

Rapid antigen tests are a commonly-used test to identify respiratory pathogens, such as the flu virus.
The FDA has authorized use of the same type of test to identify COVID-19. The process is a shallow swab of the nose, and does not hurt patients. The big difference is in the speed of results. Once a shallow nasal swab is collected, results are ready in 15 minutes.
